BEACHES OF AGNES

An autobiographical cinematic essay from the greatest filmmaker of the French New Wave, Agnes Varda. You can keep your Godards and Truffauts. No one made films quite like Agnes. BEACHES OF AGNES is a touching self-portrait in which Varda recalls her childhood, her adulthood, her politics, and how both her films and her two children were born. I chose BEACHES over any of her other work because it seems to contain all her films in one. It is a summation and reflection on a beautiful career and a beautiful life. (Tommy Swenson)
