GREAT SILENCE, THE

This beautiful, snow-draped spaghetti western from the 2nd Sergio deals out the usual "Capital is the master of Death" themes you find in these sort of bounty hunter stories while also featuring a subversively strange central characterization. Silence is both the name of the film's doomed hero and the central theme behind the whole movie. Silencing is a way to take someone's power. But silence itself can become a powerful weapon. The Ennio Morricone score is the special prize hidden in the delicious cake. (Tommy Swenson)
