HALLOWEEN

So much has been said about HALLOWEEN being influential and important to the American horror film that people seem to forget just how good it is. It's opening shot and sequence is mindblowing, its killing antagonist is classic and John Carpenter's execution and storytelling is top-notch. The tension ramps up, but the film also doesn't forget to have a little fun when it needs to. It's a prototype of the horror genre for a reason. (R.J. LaForce)
