JE T’AIME JE T’AIME

A suicidal man is picked by a massive computer system as the ideal candidate to send to the past in a time-travel experiment. Nope, not talking about LA JETEE but a feature film made six years later in which the time traveler becomes trapped inside an endless loop of repeating events. GROUNDHOG DAY and ETERNAL SUNSHINE have nothing on this masterpiece from the cinematic diety of love, time and memory, Alain Resnais. This is the filet mignon to those other films' processed hamburger patties. Olga-Georges Picto makes an incredible speech about how the universe was designed not for man but for cats. What's the deal with Left Bank filmmakers and cats? (Tommy Swenson)
