STEP UP 2: THE STREETS

In the underappreciated genre of dance movies, STEP UP 2: THE STREETS knows no equal. It perfects all of the necessary ingredients, from insanely creative dance scenarios to unlikely romance, while deftly avoiding the normal pitfalls (bad acting, terrible script). The cast is incredibly winning, particularly Adam G. Sevani as Moose, and the underdog spirit of the story balances out the more inane elements. But obviously, the dancing is what really matters, and this film goes all in with an exhilarating array of jaw-dropping routines. An electrifying blend of rain and flashlights, the finale is nothing short of phenomenal, with moves busted by performers that, dare I say, rival Gene Kelly. (Sarah Pitre)
