NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, THE

The only directorial effort from actor Charles Laughton is a dreamy, disturbing, eerie tale of love, hate, murder and greed. Oh, and it also involves children. Robert Mitchum is evil incarnate as an ex-prisoner masquerading as a preacher in a small southern town whose endgame includes murder and money. It's insane to think this terrifying and twisted Southern gothic fairytale was made and released to the public in 1955. It's truly is unlike anything ever made in American cinema (R.J. LaForce).
